30th ASIA PACIFIC REGIONAL SCOUT JAMBOREE

Dear Brother and Sister Scouts,

Date: 31th July - 10th August 2013

Venue: Kirana-hama, Yamaguchi, Japan ; 23rd World Scout Jamboree Site

Fees: $2700. The fees will cover jamboree kits, meals, tents, on-site activities, off site educational visits to places of interest, travel insurance, airfares, and inland transportation between airport and the jamboree site.

Eligibility: Sec 1s - Sec 4s

Theme: "Wa : A Spirit of Unity", The kanji word "wa" is richly expressive associated with unity, harmony, cooperation, friendship and peace.

Wa is a character that express the essence of Japan, a country where tradition and the latest technology coexist in harmony Inspired by this theme, it is our earnest desire that 30APRSJ will contribute to peace and harmony amony people and create a better world.

Highlights: Module activities will be carried out both inside and outside the Jamboree Site. Each activity will be organised for either one day or half a day and participation will be as a patrol or a unit.


PLs, please get back to me your patrol's interest of the above mentioned jamboree by 2nd Jan, 2013.

19th Thailand National Jamboree

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

there will be a National Jamboree in Thailand.

Below are the details:

Date: 19th - 25th November 2012

Venue: Vajiravudh International Scout Camp
             Sriracha, Chonburi, Thailand

Fee: $1000 Inclusive of jamboree kit, tents, on-site activities, off site educational visits to places of interest, insurance, airfares and inland transportation between airport and jamboree site.


Theme: Centennial of Thai Scouting

Eligibility: Scouts aged 13-17

Equipment: Participants should bring their personal belongings including sleeping bag, flashlight, Scout Uniform, sportswear, raingear etc

Climate: Mean temperature in November is between 23-34 degree

Highlights: Exciting adventure challenge, Water Activities, Survival Skill, Arts&Crafts, Global Development Village, Badge Trading and Environment Conservation

Langkawi Geopark Maritime International Scout Jamboree

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

there will be a jamboree that is held at Malaysia.

The details are as follow:

Date: 12th-17th Dec 2012

Venue: Kok Beach, Langkawi, Northern Penisular of Malaysia

Fee: $600 Inculsive of jamboree kit, tents, on-site activities, off-site educational visits to places of interest, travel insurance, airfares and inland transportation between airport and jamboree site.

Eligibility: Scouts aged 13-17

Climate: December is the rainy season in Langkawi. Mean temperature is 32 degress

OTC Consent Forms (For Seniors)

Dear Seniors,

For those who are continueing your studies in East Spring in the year 2013 which mean students of 4N1/2 2012, you are all required to attend the Oneida Training Camp, it is Compulsory, details could be found in the previous post.

As exams are over and I know you guys will not be required to attend school, therefore, I will be opening up a few dates for you to pick up your forms and return your forms together with payment. The details are as such.

Oneida Training Camp 2012

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Firstly, hope you guys are coping well and doing well with exams.

Secondly, the Oneida Training Camp is back again this year and will be held during the November. Details are as such.

Dates: 17-20 November 2012

Time: 0700hrs - 1800hrs

Venue: Saribum Scout Camp

Course Fee: $51 (Scouts only have to pay $20 for food, accomodations, bus to campsite etc.)

Attendance: COMPULSORY

Level Involved: Sec1-Sec4 (All scouts who have not graduated from ESSS is obliged to attend the camp)

Thirdly, consent forms will be given when CCA resumes, meanwhile please get ready and excited for the camp.

Lastly, CCA resumes on the 17 October 2012, please make sure you attend!

Video Competition

Dear All,

The details for the Video Competition are as such.

Deadline: 30 Sep 2012
Eligibility: All scouts

1. The theme of the video is “Scouting is Fun”.
2. The video should not be more than 5 minutes.
3. The completed video must be submitted in a disc (CD or DVD).
4. Submit as many entries but each entry must be accompanied with an ‘Entry Form’.
5. Preferably the format should be submitted in MP4.
6. The closing date is 30

7. Prizes: First Prize - $150, Second Prize - $100, and Third Prize - $50.
8. Winners are required to allow The Singapore Scout Association the rights to use their
videos for promoting Scouting.

Serangoon Eagles Scout Group will be having their biannual gangshow and is inviting us to join them. The details are as follows:

6th National Scout Lore Quest 2012

Dear All,

I am pleased to inform you guys that the above mentioned event is now open for registration, details are as such.

Dates:

Number of members in 1 team: 4 Members and 1 Reserve
Eligibility: Sec1-3
Fees: $30 Per Team

The finals of National Scout Lore Quest (NSLQ) will be held on (Sat) 28 July 2012 at The National Library.  It promises fun, challenges and an enriching learning experience for participants.   


The Scout Lore is a body of tradition and knowledge that has evolved with the Scout Movement since its founding by Lord Baden-Powell in 1907.  The Quest comprises of a Quiz and a Static Display Competition.  Participants will gain a greater understanding and appreciation of the rich heritage of local and international Scouting during the Quiz.  Their awareness of the latest development in Scouting will be enhanced.  Besides, the skills, knowledge and experiences acquired through progressive and proficiency badges will be reinforced.  The Static Display competition will enable the teams to exhibit their creative handicraft and skills in the graphical presentation of information.  Above all, the Quest will help participating teams inculcate teamwork, resourcefulness and acquire research ability.  


For those who are interested please take note that the preliminary date will clash with the Tampines District Photography course. For interested parties, please form a team yourself and give your names to SPL Rong Xian.

I am pleased to inform all of you that the above mentioned is now opened for registration, details are as such.

Course Fee:                 $5 per Scout, $2 per Venture/ Rover

Donation Draw 2012 Updates

Dear All,

Here are some updates for the donation draw 2012 incentives scheme. As decided by the scout council, we have decided to make a little amendment to the squirrel badge scheme. Below are the confirmed amount of booklets to sell to get your squirrel badges.

Bronze: 15 BOOKLETS
Silver: 20 BOOKLETS
GOLD: 30 BOOKLETS 


And also here is a good news for those who are interested in the Oneida Jacket! We will be offering the Oneida Jacket as a incentive to those who manages to sell 50 BOOKLETS. So for those who are really interested in it please try your best and work hard for it.


Please also pay attention to the scout blog as we will slowly reveal the incentives for Donation Draw 2012.
