Oneida Patrol Camp 2011

To all BSU & GSU Scouts,

There will be an upcoming COMPULSORY camp on the 14th to 16th December called the Oneida Scout Unit Patrol Camp Challenge or, OPCC for short. This camp will be a competition camp where each patrols will compete against each other using their Scouting skills and it will help their patrol to bond together and to sharpen their skills.

The camp details are as shown below: -

Reporting Time: 1100 hours

Ending Time (On Last Day): 1800 hours
Reporting Venue: ESSS Canteen
Compulsory Items To Pack/Bring: $10 [For Food] , Poncho (Dark Green), Pen & Paper, Towel, Scout/School Related T-Shirts, Pants, Undergarments, Torches, 1.5L Water Bottle.

Members who do not turn up without an MC or any photocopies of your flight stamp/ticket to verify that you are deemed unfit to attend the camp or you are traveling overseas will be dealt with and the consequences will be severe. And, please be punctual for the camp or your patrol be dealt with by the SPL and/or committee.

BSU Friday Meeting (16 September)

Dear Brothers,


For this Friday meeting, we are going to do some simple backwoodsman!

Each patrol is supposed to cook a whole chicken and some bread (a packet of self-raising flour), so please do get the ingredients before the meeting starts at 1430. Directly after school on Friday, please fall in outside the scout den and get some black trash bag from me to collect your leaves and twigs for your patrol.

After you have collected enough twigs and leaves, I would still require some help from the secondary 1 and 2 to set up the 3-2-1 Flag Pole for the meeting.

Just to remind you all, please do not be late for the meeting and fall in outside the scout den at 1430 in your full uniform so you won't miss eating your delicious chicken and bread!

Chief Commisioner's Awardees!!!!!

Let us congratulate Marcus Tan, Giggson Tan and Nurul Fitriah.

They have brought pride and honour to the Oneida Scouts Group by achieving the prestigious Chief Commisioner's Award.

This year out of the 21 recipents in the nation 3 of them comes from East Spring Secondary School.

We also have the first batch of girls to receive the CCA award in the Nation.

Out of the 4 recipients in Tampines District, 3 comes from East Spring Secondary School.

As of 2010, we have achieved a total of 5 CCA award holders !!!

Cyber Wellness Course

Dear Brothers and Sisters

I am pleased to announce the inaugural Cyber Wellness Course, is now open for registration.

The course aims to raise the awareness amongst Scouts in the cyber world, while educating them on the vigilant use of the Internet and being "cyber-responsible". Participants will also understand how they, as a Scout, can play a part to better the Internet and Cyber world.

During the 2 days course, participants will understand each topic covered through fun games, videos and interesting sharing from the speakers. Participants will also get to present their findings of the chosen topic in power point slides and video clip presentation. By sharing what they have learnt during this course to their family and friends, and pledging to their resolution of the course, they will be the Internet Wellness Ambassadors of the District!

Congratulations!!

To all my boys and girls;

Let us congratulate our DPC team for a well deserved effort in achieving Silver for the DPC competition 2011.

For all their valiant efforts despite having a member down with gastric and sent home during his orienteering and also having been disqualified.

There are many reasons why we were not meant to win this competition even though our structure did not collapse or our own leaders disqualified you in your orienteering.

It was meant to test how much humility and resillience you have in yourselves to accept defeat.

For all the efforts in being humble when the results were announced and in telling me you have not given up and will pick yourselves up dust yourselves and progress on,

I am proud to call you my boys and girls of ONEIDA.

Let us look forward now to the NPC with the resillience that we are known for.
